Over the chest – heartward – a remembrance jewel: A wearable sculpture exploring the relationship between right and reverse, front and back, of a garment. The pattern of the jacket’s back*, which follows the anatomy of the muscular system, is inverted to form the shape that covers—but does not conceal—the chest. The inner side, resting against the skin, is gilded, using a precious material usually shown on visible surfaces. The work becomes a sculptural reflection on closeness, love—held near the chest, in the pocket of the heart—the hidden, the caress—as hands move across materials while they act.

*Inspired by a black silk bridal bodice from 1893, from Naxos. The garment functions as a symbol of transition and protection, raising questions about the bodies and hands that made and wore it. A complex network of interconnections emerges, showing how, through the hands that act, narratives are “rewoven” and objects are created that reframe traditional techniques, connecting past and present.

**Footnote on the title: The original Greek title, "Επιστήθιο αποστήθισης", is a wordplay: it combines "επιστήθιο" (over-the-chest) with "αποστήθιση" (memorisation), evoking intimacy, memory, and the act of holding close to the heart.
